The future: QR shopping?

Hey everyone!
It's time for yet another interesting thing that I found today...
It's about the new shopping trend in Korea... It's online! Well, actually that isn't anything new... But wait, what if the shopping (browsing) doesn't happen on your mobile phone or pc, but in your everyday train station...

Yes, that's right, grocery shopping in your train station, but online... I know this might sound complicated and stupid but this is how it works:
You might know what this little bugger is, it's a QR code and you've probably seen one before on various products in supermarkets and such. Well it's these codes that make the weird station shopping possible... This is how it works, there are lots of lighted billboards with pictures of supermarket shelves. Each product on the shelves has its own price and a qr code. People then use their smartphone (and in Korea a lot of people have one of those...) to scan the code and to add it into their virtual shopping basket... Then after they finish their shopping, the list gets sent to a local Tesco store, and they prepare and even deliver your order...

Here's a short video explaining perfectly how it works:

What do you guys think of this system, do you think it would be useful, could this work in countries like Amerika and such? Let me know, below!

See you next time!

  1. This would be great to be implemented in more countries :)

  2. I could see this kind of hitting off...but only in big, modern cities for now. Kind of convenient.

  3. I'd love to see it here in Poland! On the other hand - it's not very different from doing that shopping on the Internet. Which is even better, as you don't have to go to a specific place.

  4. That's very clever! Saves time for those who commute home and have tons of chores to do!
