Let's go indie!

Hey people,

It's about time for another post, and I feel like talking about games for a bit, so, what do you say, let's get on with it!

Indie games, either you love them or either you don't... For those who don't know what I'm talking about, indie is short for independence, in gaming terms this means that the game was created by a company which isn't one of the big mainstream players (e.g. EA, 2k, and others). These indie gaming companies are most of the time proud of what they produce, and it isn't because they are less famous that their games are worth less...

Some times it's even the contrary, because where big companies can sell products using their name and other works, the indie companies cannot do this, so they have to pay attention to many details so that the game itself is good... Now you shouldn't expect big blinging graphs and stuff, because another result of being a smaller, less known company is that their budget is much smaller... Still, the work they deliver can be of high quality, especially gameplaywise...

Now another thing that I'd like to discuss is an action called the humble indie bundle.

Maybe you've already heard of it, or maybe even bought it... Again, for those who have a questionmark above their head, the bundle is an action which collects money for charity and for the indie developers... They do this by packing several good indie games inside one bundle and by selling it... But wait, this is where it gets interesting, they sell it AT ANY PRICE, so it's pay what you want... And that for a bundle consisting of  5 good indie games...
Well, actually it isn't exactly 5, because other developers have donated 2 new games to the bundle, which brings the total to 7... That's a great deal, especially if you can pay whatever you can miss... And it even get better, because if you pay more than the avarage of all sales, you also get the previous bundle, which consists of another 5 games! At the moment the avarage is 5,50$... Now, if you're a little good with math, you come to a total of .45$ per game! That's definately a good buy! but then again, nobody stops you from being a cheap ass person and only paying 0.01, and only getting the 7 games from this bundle...

Interested? Good!
Not really interested? Well, read on for a little longer, because i forgot to mention that all the games in the bundle are drm free, and completely cross platform (mac, lynux & pc)! What also needs to be mentioned is that most of the games in the bundle can be activated and played using steam...
Can it get any better? I wouldn't think so, but it seems it can, because if you buy this bundle (at any price) you can play minecraft for free until the 14th of august...

So, if that didn't convince you of buying this great bundle, well than I don't think anything will...
But if you are interested, go look on the website at http://www.humblebundle.com/ , and get this bundle...
And for the people who are really thinking about just giving 1 cent, the games you get for giving that 5$ really are worth it... 2 names, Braid, which is a very fun side scroller and Machinarium, which is a superb point and click adventure game... If any of these appeal to you, then don't think and just support! The offer ends on August 10th, so be fast...

And to finish this post, I'll give their "commercial"...

Again, http://www.humblebundle.com/
Go get the games, I promise you won't regret it... :)

That's it for todays post, I hope I amused you, and don't hesitate me to tell whether you bought the bundle or not, and if so why not :)

See you next time!

  2. Ugh... I've wanted Braid for so long but my wallet is starting to croak. :(

Plus, I like supporting Indie developers. A lot of them deserve the money so I'd want to give a decent amount...

  3. As a poor college student I am broke as hell, so paying for games or food is usually an easy choice. But I love to support indies!

  4. I think I read about this bundle elsewhere. Yeah, I'm curious how many people decide to pay 0,01 USD for such a game. That's simply... mean. Some best indie games I can think of? Liero and Soldat. These are still astonishing pieces of fast gaming.
